Chasing walls is unavoidable in some refits, but the mess can be controlled. We protect floors and furniture, cut the chases with a machine and extraction, and leave the property tidy at the end of each day.
If you would rather avoid the building work, we look at alternatives: neatly finished surface trunking, reusing the existing conduit, or splitting the work into phases so you can carry on living in the house.
Common questions
Yes. It can be organised zone by zone so you are never left without light at night. The usual approach is to work circuit by circuit: one part of the home is finished before the next is opened up. There are only occasional cuts of a few hours when the new consumer unit is connected.
It depends on the number of circuits to be fitted and on whether the existing installation can take the new board as it is or things need correcting first. We look at it during the visit and give you a fixed written price, with the materials itemised.
To replace a consumer unit or add sockets, no. For a refit involving building work (chasing walls, changing the layout) you normally do need prior notification or a licence, depending on the municipality. We tell you what applies in your case.
Yes, that is a good part of what we do in the area. Older properties tend to have installations with no earthing and very tight cabling, and they are the ones that gain the most from a rewire.
